Inner Child

Image
Happy Easter for those who are celebrating it today! I found a new twitter account to follow. Its theme? Journal prompts! Today’s blog is based off of a prompt by @journalprompts.   “Your inner child"   I let my inner child out every day. I have a hard time accepting the fact that I’m 32 years old. I certainly don’t feel like I’m in my thirties. I still collect action figures. I follow Grumpy Cat on Twitter, I paint my fingernails purple, and I still dress up—cosplay is the proper term for adults. Heck, I still have all of my football cards that I collected when I was young! I’ve long asked myself if I should finally get rid of the action figures and costumes and finally step into the proper adult world of careerism, coffee guzzling, and bland pant suits. The fact of the matter is that I’ve got a job, and I do enjoy a good cup of coffee, but those aren’t the sole focus of my life, and I don’t ever want them to be.  On the right: a Star Trek TNG nurse skant (or

Art and Amazon

The Bronchitis is gone, but I've pulled a muscle due to strenuous coughing. All I want is to feel 100% again! I would love that! In other news, I've still been working on revising my NaNo novel and have started another drawing. It's almost complete; I just want to tweak a few features on his face before uploading the polished piece. Here is the basic sketch for it: Ice, anyone? He's holding a pair of silver tongs with a single ice cube. This drawing has been purely digital. Normally I'll do the sketch on paper first because I like the feel and the control of using a pencil. However, sometimes I like to practice on digital media only. There are always areas to work on. From the Burpleberry Newsstand! Sara and the Burpleberry Rescue is now available on Amazon!  Sara and the Burpleberry Rescue Mr. Burple Berry is thrilled that his world is now visible on the Internet giant, Amazon.com! He hopes that more and more people can experience the advent

It's Looking Green

Happy St. Patrick's Day! When you've been sick for nearly a week and get hit by something else the second you feel better, cranky doesn't even scratch the surface. I'm afraid I don't have anything profound to talk about or any new art to share this week. However, my week long dance with two left feet and a bottle of meds opened my eyes up to something. Federal employees get 13 paid sick days a year. There is no Federal law that guarantees employees in the private sector get anything....and I'll leave it at that. Time to liven this post up with something positive! Since my mind is drawing a blank on the subject at the moment, I dug up something fun. Little wingless dings are such a blast! They know how to cheer a person up. The Burpleberry News Reel  Mr. Burple Berry was last spotted chasing down a rainbow in search of an elusive pot of gold.  One anonymous reader was able to snap this photo of him: Before his disappearance, he dropped off the

Daylight Savings When?

Image
Thank you, Internet, for letting me know that we jumped an hour ahead this morning! I had honestly forgotten all about Daylight Savings Time. I was up an hour early anyway, so I don't feel effected that much. Why was I up early? Let's just say that it wasn't even 10 pm when I hit the sack last night. I caught one of the bugs that's been going around and am thrilled that it decided to bite during the weekend (please note the sarcasm!) ;) I tinkered with an old drawing I did in Paint (oh how I used to love that program!). I started a redraw of it, but since I'm not interested in elves anymore, I don't know if my dissatisfaction with it is based purely on my disinterest in the genre or not. The new one originally had a similar background, but it didn't look right, so I went for something simple. New! Old! The Burpleberry Newsstand Mr. Burple Berry successfully completed his second Fiction Friday on Twitter and has been last sighted with a

Strolling with News Reels

A stroll down revision lane I've started the revision/editing process for my NaNo novel. This is going to a be a slowly--very slowly--but surely project. As long as I keep up with it and do a little bit each week, it will see the light of day. I think working from an outline was the best idea I've ever had. The ending was planned out and written down before I even started writing! I'm thinking about drawing a comic of one of the chapters. The chapter is unique in that it can stand alone as a short story. I've drawn several sketches so far. Here is one of them: From the burpleberry news reel Mr. Burple Berry completed his first ever Fiction Friday on twitter. He successfully wrote a story in 140 characters. The wingless ding is sitting back and enjoying the sights and sounds of Earth while he plots his next story. He dropped by to give us a copy and next week's prompt. Word has it that he is spending his lazy Sunday afternoon doing word search puzzles. H
