End of Month October and November

Image
See my final total for NaNo in my previous post ! October's art  Psi Cop Mishi to the rescue! Click on image to view the full size.  Loki of Mischief from The Avengers! November's art I didn't have time to do anything special or to do any digital art, just rough sketches.   Stay Vigilant!  ~ This message is brought to you by your Romulan friends at the Tal Shiar!   Even aliens have nightmares. Delenn of Babylon 5 is having a bad dream of what may or may not come to pass.    After a long, emotional day, Talia Winters from Babylon 5 retires to her quarters and thinks about her beloved Jason Ironheart.  Also, crayons are still awesome.

It. Is. Done.

I was taken hostage during the month of November by NaNo, and I am extremely excited to report that I did it! I hit the 50K mark! All that writing was not for naught ;) Now that the time crunch is over with, I am less busy and can update and play on the Internet with my usual vigor. I still have about 20 to 30K to go before the actual novel is finished, but now that November is over, I can do it at my leisure! Today is December 1st, so bring on the home-made Christmas presents and the continuation of my progress on getting my children's book printed out! I will update October and November's End of Month post shortly.

That time when NaNo ate my life!

Wait...that's right now! I honestly did not know what I was getting myself into when I decided to sign up for NaNoWriMo this year. I did not think it would consume everything! Even though I had made myself an outline that details every single chapter, it is still a lot of work! NaNo time: Weekdays Get home from work Cook and eat dinner Do the dishes Two hours of NaNo (or more) Two hours to relax (if that) Bed time! Weekends Random stuff in the morning Write all afternoon while taking breaks to get a few household things done Random stuff at night This is both a rewarding and learning experience. I know I'll thank myself for putting myself through this when I'm done! Here is a snapshot of when I was still trying to figure out my NaNo schedule and was still writing some of it out by hand. I blurred the words for obvious reasons. I know I still need to upload October's art! I'm going to do that at the end of November when NaNo is out of the wa

Chasing Frequencies

The past few weeks have been busy and stressful.  I'm posting an update to let you all know that I'm still here! The end of month post for October will be uploaded sometime this week. I'm hoping that things calm down soon and that I'll be posting regularly again! In other news, I am doing NaNoWriMo this year! I'm 7583 words in so far. As for my illustrations and that project, I'm almost finished with it.  The formatting is almost done. I can't wait to finish it and to show it off!

End of Month: September

Image
This month flew by, and we are now officially in Fall! Fall is my favorite season. I love the falling leaves, the earth tones, the cider, the smells...I love just about everything about it! Here is what I did in September! I am Grey - Delenn from Season 1 of Babylon 5. Talia's Sorrow - Talia Winters from Season 1 of Babylon 5. She is glancing out a window, thinking about Jason Ironheart. I, Sinclair - Coming soon! He's sketched out, ready to be painted. Ivanova can't wait; she is surrounded by the Psi Corps :P

It is Complete!

Image
I have finally finished all of the illustrations! It feels great to be done with it. I've been working on these illustrations since January. The drawings are for a children's story that I wrote for my niece. Once I get them scanned (or otherwise converted into high-resolution digital images), I'm going to start the process of formatting everything so that I can compile it into a book. I will keep everyone updated on my progress! And...because I couldn't help myself, here's a shot of the sketchbook! 21 is the game is the title of my original post about this. Like I said, this feels awesome! I can't believe I was able to complete something like this! Here's to hoping the formatting process goes smoothly; I've never done this before. And...an updated counter! I'm going to keep the counter at the bottom of the blog for a few weeks, but I will save this post in my news section on the front.

End of Month: August

Image
As briefly mentioned in my previous post earlier today, I got a little busy this month, so my monthly End of Month update has run rather late! I only have one image for August, but it was a complicated piece and something I've never tried before. I wanted to try my hand at making a fake comic book page. I've made several fake comic book covers in the past, so I wanted to see if I could do a full page to gauge my interest in creating comic book art. Click on the image to see a larger version! It's yet some more Babylon 5 fan art. It depicts scenes that quite possibly happened behind the scenes in the show.  I had a lot of fun with it, but comics involve a lot of detail and characters, so this may not be something I do often (unless, of course, I win the lottery and can retire to self publish my own comic books!). In other news I've finished 20 of the 21 illustrations! My counter should reflect that, but no matter how many times I refresh, it keeps showing

Framed Goodness!

Image
I was able to get a frame for the autograph last weekend. I rearranged my beloved action figure shelf so that I could set it up. It is in the perfect spot. My desk is just to the right of the bookshelf...hopefully I won't be needing to read a book from the first shelf anytime soon! The story behind the autograph is detailed in this post A close up of the autograph itself The writing on the envelope (right next to the autograph) says "Photo" :) I will be posting my End of Month: August update shortly! My life was busy this month, so you have my apologies for such a late post!

It has come!

Image
The autograph from the caption contest hosted by Walter Koenig  (see my previous post for the full story) has come! I don't think I was ever more excited to get the mail than I was today when I saw that it had come in! What a nice thing to come home to after a long Monday at work! Thank you, Walter Koenig! I had so much fun participating in that contest!

Vampires, Ballet Dancers, and a Caption

Image
I have some exciting news to share! I put my illustrations on hold two weeks ago for a super secret mission…Cue some sort of suspenseful tune with a catchy beat!  Now, then, what did I do with my time? I entered a drawing into a contest that was hosted by the talented Walter Koenig (Star Trek’s Chekov, Babylon 5’s Alfred Bester, and the author of Buck Alice and the Actor Robot ).  He posted a caption on Twitter, and contestants were to draw a picture to go along with it. Imagine my delight when I logged into Twitter on Sunday and saw this I am thrilled, and I’m still kind of speechless! As you can see from the screenshot, the winners get an autographed copy of the first issue of his latest comic, Things to Come . The second half of the prize is a copy of Things to Come in graphic novel format.  The graphic novel is available for pre-order on Amazon.com. I’ve read one of his other original works, Buck Alice and the Actor Robot . It was an enjoyable mixture of wit and humanity at its c

End of Month: July

Image
It's more like the beginning of August now...I got a little sidetracked, so this is running 5 days late! There isn't anything new going on, just the same old "I have too many ideas and not enough time!" going on. Here's my art for July! Rogue Race - I have to say that I am really proud of this one! I am extremely happy with out it turned out. I've been wanting to draw him in this pose for a long time, and I finally got around to it! The Corps is Your Friend! - This is a fun idea I had since last summer. I finally got around to drawing it! I had a blast with this picture! A good ol' fashion sketch on paper. It's always good to go back to pencil and paper every once in a while. This picture was done as practice on different poses....What better model to use than Alfred Bester... ;) I, Londo - He is the second one on the left (the one with the crazy hair and outfit).

End of Month: June

Image
June was a creative month for me! On top of what I'm about to post, I have completed 10 illustrations. I have the next week off, so I hope to make a great deal of progress with them. Mishi Six - This is my Star Trek Online (STO) character. She's a Vorta in the Federation with telekinetic powers. No...I cannot seem to resist the option to play a telepathic related character! Alternate Demise - In this little alternate universe, Byron from Babylon 5 never becomes an angst ridden monologue spewing martyr; he never gets the chance! (Byron is the one hanging upside down with the long blonde hair).     The Rogues of Athena - A fake Psi Corps issue comic from Babylon 5 . Jason Johnson stars in a harrowing battle with the Rogues of Athena!  Penguinor's Demise - Yeah...it's exactly what it looks like, ha ha! Don't worry; he gets the girl!

End of Month: May

Image
It's already June! This year has flown by. Here are three things I completed this month: So Many Minds - This was a spur of the moment "speed draw" attempt. It took an hour, but I am really happy with it. And yes, of course I had to use the Psi Corps as speed drawing testing grounds! New clothes - I took a pair of I don't know whats and left over fabric from my Psi Corps skirt and made myself a tank top and a Star Trek TNG fashion top. I am working on a black shrug for the tank top so that I can wear it to work. And now, for the grand finale! Here's ending the month of May with something I am extremely proud of!    Mind Games - A fake comic book cover to what would be the most epic comic book ever.  Alfred Bester (played by the talented Walter Koenig) is going to save the day because he is awesome like that.
