End of Month: June

Image
June was a creative month for me! On top of what I'm about to post, I have completed 10 illustrations. I have the next week off, so I hope to make a great deal of progress with them. Mishi Six - This is my Star Trek Online (STO) character. She's a Vorta in the Federation with telekinetic powers. No...I cannot seem to resist the option to play a telepathic related character! Alternate Demise - In this little alternate universe, Byron from Babylon 5 never becomes an angst ridden monologue spewing martyr; he never gets the chance! (Byron is the one hanging upside down with the long blonde hair).     The Rogues of Athena - A fake Psi Corps issue comic from Babylon 5 . Jason Johnson stars in a harrowing battle with the Rogues of Athena!  Penguinor's Demise - Yeah...it's exactly what it looks like, ha ha! Don't worry; he gets the girl!

End of Month: May

It's already June! This year has flown by. Here are three things I completed this month: So Many Minds - This was a spur of the moment "speed draw" attempt. It took an hour, but I am really happy with it. And yes, of course I had to use the Psi Corps as speed drawing testing grounds! New clothes - I took a pair of I don't know whats and left over fabric from my Psi Corps skirt and made myself a tank top and a Star Trek TNG fashion top. I am working on a black shrug for the tank top so that I can wear it to work. And now, for the grand finale! Here's ending the month of May with something I am extremely proud of!    Mind Games - A fake comic book cover to what would be the most epic comic book ever.  Alfred Bester (played by the talented Walter Koenig) is going to save the day because he is awesome like that.

I finally got around to updating my countdown graphic. I have finished seven illustrations so far. With working 40 hours a week, plus the art trades I do on the side, I normally get 1 illustration done every two weeks or so. I have next Friday off, so I am going to make good use of that day! It will be a great opportunity to make some headway with this project. All this cryptic talk of these illustrations...I feel it is time to reveal what the project actually is! I'm working on a children's book that I intend to self-publish. I've written it and have already had someone take a look at the story.  They liked it and gave it their thumbs up. My goal is to finish most of the illustrations by the end of this year. Here is a snippet from one of the drawings! In other news... 'Tis May in the lovely state of Georgia, and here comes the heat, seeping through the walls...I've held out as long as I can, but I think I may finally be turning that dollar guzzling A/C ...

End of Month: April

It's nearing the close of April. We are almost 5 months into 2012 now, and it is looking to be a good year so far. I'm still trying to find the perfect schedule for my illustrations so that I can complete this project in a timely manner. I've finished 7 so far (yes, I know I need to update my little counter!).  I have an extra day off coming in May (in addition to Memorial Day) that I plan to use wisely. The last time I had a scheduled day off, I finished 2 illustrations in one day! I cannot wait until I'm ready to scan and format my project. It will be worth all the hard work to finally hold my own, illustrated children's book in my hands! Art in April "Ariel's Whimsical Dream" - watercolor, color pencil, and ink ** Ariel is (c) Studio Drowtales inc 2001-2012 This was done as an entry into an art contest hosted by Drowtales , a web comic I read daily.  I didn't win, but I felt that the contest had an ...
