About the Blog

The year is 2014!
Where are the hover boards and moon bases?

Quirky Distractions had a good run, but it was well past due for a revamp and makeover. Miss all the old stuff? It’s still there in the archives. Here’s the scoop on what’s new and where to find things, but first, let me introduce myself for the newcomers.

I’ve been writing since I was fourteen…Never mind that I started out with fan fiction involving The Flood story, Noah, and aliens. I suppose I’ve always had an inclination for sci-fi and the odder things in life--we all start from somewhere. I have been told that I was quirky and creative even in preschool. Apparently I drew all the time.

I don’t remember it, but I do remember going to my Gram and Pop’s when I was in grade school. After playing grocery store and telephone games with Gram’s many purses and spare rotary phones (grocery store was SRS BSNS!), my sister and I would sit up at Gram’s counter and draw. I remember drawing princesses and designing pretty dresses for them.

Adventures with rotary phones and flood faring aliens aside, enter 1999 and high school graduation. I spent the next five years in the United States Air Force and got to see the world! Countries I’ve been to include Turkey, Japan, South Korea, and Iraq. After my enlistment was up, I went to Armstrong Atlantic State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Information Technology (with a minor in writing). Word of advice: if you ever get the chance to go to college, GO!

About the blog
The Year is Now is becoming a reality, but that’s not the only thing I chat about these days even though my chatter and banter about it is increasing.

Military stories
All of my stories, past and future, are (and will be) located here.
Reviews
From geeky novelties, to books, to movies, and even to clothing, you’ll find my reviews here. Just because something comes in a cool shade of frosty blue, it doesn’t mean that the thing is made of awesome.
Videos
Here you will find all the video shorts of me reading excerpts from my short stories and other writing adventures.
The Outlanders - On hiatus
As much as I loved doing this comic, I don't have the time anymore. One page takes hours upon hours of work (we're talking 10 or so hours per page). I started it when I had a part time job (which turned into a full time job when I was officially hired by my company).
My comic will be updated quarterly. Missed an update? The comic archives are here! Be on the look out for updates in March, June, September, and December!
